A Family Run Vegan Business
Our journey began in 2003 when our founder Meagan Boyle (Mummy Meagz), along with her daughter Willow, opened Blondes Coffee Shop in the village of Cottingham, East Yorkshire. As a lifelong vegetarian, Mummy Meagz made it her mission to serve delicious veggie food made with love, compassion and a sprinkle of awesomeness. In 2016, Blondes went 100% vegan, in keeping with Meagan and Willow’s new-found veganism and ethical lifestyles.
By this point, Mummy Meagz was already a hero within the local vegan community and was breaking all the stigmas attached to vegan food, especially with her Rocky Road bars which were selling like hot cakes (or chocolate bars!) at Blondes.
Meagan made the leap to take her Rocky Roads to the masses, and in January 2017 Mummy Meagz Vegan Kitchen was born. Since that date, Mummy Meagz has been supplying her impossibly indulgent Rocky Road bars into independent stores nationwide, followed in 2019 by the launch of the Chuckie Egg – a delicious vegan chocolate crème egg. All four flavours of Mummy Meagz Rocky Road bars and the Chuckie Eggs launched into Holland & Barrett stores nationwide and online in early 2020 – bringing delectable, and affordable vegan chocolate to the masses.
Meagan Boyle, AKA Mummy Meagz ,is a straight talking, no nonsense, trailblazing child of the 60’s with a dream to see the liberation of all animals. To her, the best form of activism is through the food she produces – showing the world that vegan food is just as tasty as the food we enjoyed growing up which, while enjoyable, for most of us contained unethical animal products.
When Mummy Meagz isn’t in the kitchen she attends various outreach events. In fact, her favourite day of the year is taking part in the Official Animal Rights March in London. Also close to her heart is rescuing Romanian dogs. Her Romanian rescue, Bertie, is the Mummy Meagz mascot and helps to raise funds for his furry friends abroad.
Director of Sales
Willow is co-founder of Blondes – the café which kickstarted Mummy Meagz as a cult vegan chocolate brand – and our director of sales. A former maths teacher, Willow now prefers spreadsheets to schoolbooks – but you’ll often find her behind the counter at Blondes meeting our faithful customers.
Willow is also our not-so-secret nerd, and in her spare time loves a good puzzle book, boybands, Marvel movies – and did we mention boybands? She is mum to two fur babies: the one-eyed bruiser Jasper and the laid-back surfer dude Boris.
Dean is our MD who wishes he was part of 1D! He holds an MBA, and is responsible for ensuring Mummy Meagz continues to grow from cult vegan chocolate brand to worldwide domination.
His mornings aren't complete unless he's done the daily crossword and had his oat milk flat white. He's Willow's other half and brings their fur babies to work daily.
External Communications Officer
Sian is our bookworm who is still waiting for her Hogwarts acceptance letter. She’s our social media supernova, communicating regularly with our loyal fanbase. Check out our social pages to read Sian’s updates, get mouth-watering recipe ideas, and to enter our latest competitions (did someone say free chocolate?).
Whenever she’s in the office, Sian makes the rest of the team suffer through her country music playlist. She is mum to fur baby Dudley, the dopey dog.
You’ll usually find Aimee travelling the country to dish out samples of Mummy Meagz’ indulgent chocolate delights, working alongside Sian on our social media pages, or behind the counter at Blondes perfecting the latest chocolate-based recipes.
Aimee is our goth chick, who has an equal amount of love for the likes of Ozzy Osbourne and Zac Efron. Unfortunately, neither of them come close to her love for mushrooms. Aimee is mum to fur babies Douglas, the Scottie who believes he is a cat, and Ozzy and Lemmy, big fluffy actual cats.
Chief Food Taster
As you can see from Tommy's picture, he loves ALL vegan food. You name it; he will eat it - as long as it doesn't contain animals. To say Tommy is a Chelsea FC fan would be an understatement! If you catch him on match day, you better believe he is sporting his famous Chelsea PJ's under his clothes. He helps out at various events around the country, but he can usually be found behind the counter at Blondes, where the customers often pop in for a chat with him.
Tommy is Mummy Meagz husband, and dad to Willow, and fur babies Bertie and Timmy.
You will often find Amber serving up all the latest chocolate-based recipes at Blondes, and helping to come up with new delicious creations. When she's not feeding everyone's sweet tooth, she can be found with her head in a book, even at parties.
Amber is fierce and will win anyone in a debate. She doesn't do anything by halves; she is just as passionate about books as she is women's rights, and politics as much as Sam Fender.
PR and Marketing
Caroline manages our PR strategy – and she won’t stop until our products are splashed across the press for all to read about. When she’s not pitching to journalists, you’ll find her thinking up creative ideas to promote Mummy Meagz’ latest products.
Caroline is a secret boyband fan but pretends her taste in music is much more sophisticated these days. She can usually be found at a music festival or a gig when she gets a night off from looking after her (human) toddler and her two fur babies, Ruby and Ziggy.
Matthew is co-founder of Veganuary, and all-round vegan legend. When he’s not busy campaigning for a vegan world, he’s helping to bring vegan brands into the spotlight. In 2019, Matthew invested in Mummy Meagz via vegan investment fund Veg Capital, enabling us to obtain our first major listing with Holland & Barrett, and securing a bright future for chocolate lovers everywhere.
Mummy Meagz Mascot
Bertie was rescued from Romania and adopted by Mummy Meagz, although he tells his doggy friends that he escaped single pawed.
He travelled through six countries to get to the UK, and now raises money for dog charities to help his less-fortunate doggy friends abroad.
Bertie represents our commitment to improving animal welfare around the world, and has helped to raise money for his furry friends by organising annual doggy tea parties, and our Christmas event Santa Paws.
Over the years Bertie has raised over £10,000 for various doggy charities and helped to find over 100 dogs their forever homes.
