Will Pope Francis try vegan for ¢1 Million?

“If there’s one thing you do today, make sure it’s joining the likes of Paul McCartney, Woody Harrelson and Evanna Lynch in asking Pope Francis to try vegan for Lent!”

– Mummy Meagz, 2019

Million Dollar Vegan, a global campaign, has launched today to raise awareness of some of the world’s most pressing issues, and to tackle them by engaging with world leaders, institutions and individuals, and inspiring positive dietary change.

One of their current aims, is to contact the Pope via an online petition, and ask him to try vegan for Lent in return for a donation of $1 million to a charity of the Pope’s choice. To ask him to help fight climate change, animal suffering, species extinction, sea pollution and deforestation with diet change. One simple act with an abundance of positive impacts.

It’s not just Pope Francis they want to inspire to try veganism though, it’s everyone. Including you.

Why?

There are so many reasons to eat a plant-based diet. It is better for the planet, helps combat climate change, prevents species loss, prevents the suffering of farmed animals, and reduces the risk of serious illness in those who eat it. It’s what Million Dollar Vegan calls a win-win-win-win.

Mummy Meagz has got behind the campaign, along with Joaquin Phoenix, Moby, Oli Sykes and Chris Packham, and is a part of the Starter Kit that you can receive for free! So if you have ever asked the question “where do you get your protein from!?” “do fish actually feel pain?” or you’re a foodie and want some inspiration for some vegan meals, or even just want something interesting to read, then head over to the website and download the FREE Vegan Starter Kit!

Think about it this way, animal farming uses 83% of agricultural land but provides just 18% of calories. We currently produce enough food to feed every single person on this planet, expect 815 million people are still starving. 34% of edible crops are fed to farmed animals, and the amount of meat the animals ‘produce’ is just not even close to the amount of crops they are fed. World hunger is an issue, but it doesn’t have to be.

Check out Genesis Butler, the 12 year old helping the campaign and the youngest person to ever give a TEDx Talk. Be inspired!
